Okay, so how cool exactly is this skirt? When I saw this beauty on Style Moi I instantly knew that I had to have it. I initially planned to pair it with a pair of flats made out of the same fabric that I originally shoved to the back of my closet but I quickly decided that two iridescent pieces of clothing would make a far too 'loud' outfit. Instead, I wore the skirt to an all-black outfit to add a little spice.
The coat I'm wearing came in the mail today after I won a lucky auction a couple weeks back and it's safe to say that I have a new go-to winter coat now. It's super warm and cozy and it means that I won't have to pose in my thin biker jacket anymore.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the outcome of this outfit. Although I have to say that it's definitely a standing-up-outfit. You know how there's 'sitting shoes' and 'walking shoes'? Well, it's the same with this skirt as it does kind of bulge if you sit down. Other than that, it's super comfortable and all good!

Good news! This Sunday it's time for my 200 followers giveaway to go up!

Now, before you start asking me if I was cold in that crop - Yes. Yes, I was. But it was totally worth it! This pair of leggings by Black Milk Clothing is an old favourite of mine which was released on Valentine's Day last year if I'm not mistaken. The design is by an Australian artist called James Patrick, who is currently working on another pair for Black Milk Clothing, which I cannot wait to see.

I've recently stumbled upon the blog called Unfancy, on which Caroline documents her experiences with a capsule wardrobe. The main idea is to put together a capsule wardrobe of 37 pieces that you wear one season long (Jan-March for example). I really like the idea of buying things to last and wearing staples instead of impulse buying a lot of clothes so I've been toying with the idea of taking up the challenge. As a fashion blogger, however, I think it might be close to impossible for me to take up that challenge but I wanted to share that idea with you anyways because I think it's really good. Let me know what you think!

You won't believe how long I hunted for this flannel since I've stumbled upon it on lookbook. It was sold out almost everywhere save for one Spanish fashion website named Fashion Pills, which I had never heard of previously. I'm all about red and black flannels recently and this one was just the right find as it's not too basic and spices up any pair of old jeans.
The weather has been a little dull lately. I haven't seen a blue sky since I've shot my last outfit post and it's slowly getting to me. It's just not really motivating to go out and shoot when all you got is a boring, cloudy sky. I won't deny that it does go hand in hand with my more gloomy outfits, but I'd really appreciate it if spring would start early this year. Well, I guess that's enough weather-rant for one outfit post.
On another note: I noticed that my recent haircare post on clarifying got a very good response. Would you like to see more haircare related posts? Just let me know in the comments below!

P.S.: For anyone wondering where the title for this post is from, check out Marilyn Manson's new-ish single Deep Six. I just really didn't want to call this outfit post 'A High Heels Suicide'. That would have been far too easy.

Hair: Clarifying - A Fix for Matte and Tangly Hair

Clarifying Hair How To

Have you ever been told by your hairdresser that you should switch up your shampoo and conditioner every once in a while because otherwise it stops working? If you use silicones on your hair, chances are you even found that to be true after a while. This is because certain products cause build-up on your hair if you continue to use them over a long period, especially if they contain non-water-soluble silicones that require harsh sulfates to remove them. The result? Limp, matte and tangly hair that often acts like velcro. Maybe you've even cut your hair in the past when it felt like that!

Don't worry, there is a simple fix for that: Clarifying

To clarify means to remove all the excessive silicone, oils or product build-up from your hair. It basically resets your hair if something causes trouble. It can either be done with baking soda followed by an apple cider vinegar rinse or with a clarifying shampoo that you can either get at your local drugstore, at the hairdresser's or on Amazon. I personally find a clarifying shampoo to be much more convenient as it comes pre-mixed and there is no need for an ACV rinse after shampooing. Plus, baking soda can be a little harsh to your hair if it has not been diluted properly prior to clarifying.

This is what you want to do:
Before you step in the shower, detangle your hair completely. Then, start at the crown on your hair and apply enough shampoo to get a nice lather. I use Wella's Purifying Shampoo. Work your way down your hair until you get to your ends. The reason why you want to shampoo your ends is because there's the most build-up. Rinse your hair thoroughly. Gently pat your hair dry with a towel.

Your hair has been successfully clarified but you'll notice that it feels dry or tangly since there is no silicones that make it slippery. Here comes the final and most important part: Deep Conditioning.
Give your hair a nice, prolonged treatment with a moisturizing conditioner and leave it in for at least 30 minutes or as long as you can stand.
For this step, I'd recommend a conditioner without silicones. If you don't want to leave out the silicones, you could use a very moisturizing conditioner like Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Moist Treatment. A more natural alternative would be to mix your favourite silicone-free conditioner with a little bit of honey and aloe vera gel (the clear kind).

If you like the results, you can repeat this as it becomes necessary. Do keep in mind, though, that clarifying shampoos are very harsh so I wouldn't recommend clarifying too often. Once a month or every two months, depending on your hair type, should be fine. If you colour your hair this might also fade the colour a little bit quicker so keep that in mind as well.

I hope you found this post helpful! If you have any questions, please leave them down below. I'll do my best to get back to you!

Bursting out my vintage jeans jacket once more. We were originally planning to shoot this outfit at a different location in front of a graffiti wall but a group of teenagers made it impossible for me to get any proper shots. Boo! Anyway, I think the pictures turned out okay nevertheless. The backdrop might not be the best but I really did not want to withhold this outfit from you as I think it's one of my better ones! It's much less casual than my previous outfit and exactly what I'd wear to a concert sans the boots as they're a little hard to walk in after some time. Alternatively, I'd probably throw on my black faux fur creepers.

I'm all about comfortable and laid-back outfits now that the sky is commonly grey and cloudy. That being said, you just can't go wrong with a super soft, cropped sweater and a pair of high-waisted jeans. I especially love the acid wash of these ASOS jeans I got off Kleiderkreisel because it's much more polished than a pair of washed-out, black jeans but it still gives off the laid-back, rocker vibe I love so much. They're quite thin and widen as you wear them, though, so I can't really recommend them for this time of the year.
I added my new pile backpack you might remember from yesterday's wishlist, which I got on sale for 50% off, and my trusty Demonia creepers, which managed to add a little something to a rather plain and comfy look.
If it hadn't been super windy and rainy when we shot this outfit, I would definitely have worn my hair open instead of leaving it in my messy bedtime cinnabun. Also, it looked much messier and less polished when I left the house, but the wind conveniently pushed all stray hairs out of my face.

On that note, here's how to get the perfect messy bun (no heat!):
Just sleep on it. I'm not even kidding.

Wishlist: Post-Christmas Longings

Wishlist High Heels Suicide Windsor eBay H&M

It's usually the time after Christmas when you promised to save some cash on NYE that you discover the best clothes ever, just like this oversized flannel dress from Windsor or the even more awesome alternative by High Heels Suicide, which I actually managed to track down an order yesterday even though it looks as if it's sold out permanently. Also from High Heels Suicide is this gorgeous daisy choker, which I personally can't wait to wear around my neck. You see, I already caved and ordered some of the pieces on here. I hope you don't mind.
Two dresses made it on the list this time: the one on the far left reminds me a lot of the ones from Black Milk Clothing I used to lust over but which were far off my budget. This one from StyleMoi is an excellent alternative. On the right is a dress from MotelRocks which I've had my eyes on ever since I saw it on Lookbook.

Now, I've been very big on online shopping as of late - is there anything you've laid your eyes on recently?

Style Round-Up: Half of 2014

For me, 2014 was the year in which I started to prioritize fashion blogging over beauty- or lifestyle-blogging, which is why I thought it'd be quite nice to have a look at my personal OOTD favourites. I'm only doing the second half, though, as I only started to fashion blog actively in the summer. Well, here's onto my favourites! Can you spot the theme?

The first (halfway-)decent outfit post I managed to put together. My hair was bleached in a super bright yellow, I felt super awkward in front of the camera, but I somehow looked quite confident in the pictures. This is where it all started. The skirt has now been moved to the back of my closet while I still wear the blazer for work. The boots - well, you'll know them pretty well by now, I guess!

I was rocking the same bleach blonde hair (Lord, have mercy) and had just gotten a trim. This was around the time when I finally mustered up and got confident enough to take pictures in town - albeit these were taken on a Sunday with hardly anyone around. Same ol' boots, rocking a little bit of a tan and wearing a necklace that I misplaced shortly after. I also wanted to look as normal as possible that time.

After trying to fit in among other fashion bloggers as much as possible, I finally let my inner geek leak out a little when wearing my Map of Middle Earth leggings. Sadly, the pictures of this outfit are a bit blurry and out of focus, but I promise you that this won't be the last time you'll see these leggings on my blog.

This is probably my favourite summer outfit, which is why I was super happy to return to the exact same scene later that year to do another outfit shoot

These pictures feel like ages ago, honestly. I love the patterned floor in this one way more than the outfit. I mean, let's be real: The cardigan doesn't suit me at all.

A feminine biker outfit. What I really would like to point out is the way that not only my outfits are improving, but the photography as well. I mean, kudos to my awesome boyfriend for that. It's insane how much better he got in only half a year of practice.

Choosing the December outfit was by far the hardest. I could add three or more and wouldn't do the month any justice so I just went for my personal favourite as I think it's the one that visualizes my current style the best. I'm currently all about grunge (with a couple of bohemian digressions) and vintage, which is why I chose this picture in particular as my sidebar image.

I hope you enjoyed my round-up of 2014 as well as my style-transformation! I'm super excited as to what 2015 is going to bring and in what direction it'll lead me. For once, I can say that, style-wise, I'm happy with where I am and that I totally feel like myself.

The sun finally came out today! Okay, if you look back at my outfit posts the weather in Austria doesn't seem that bad, but let me tell you, it has been freezing ever since the last days of December rolled around. You can still spot some of the snow in the background so don't be deceived.
The t-shirt I'm wearing is another piece from my boyfriend's wardrobe and my favourite one to steal, if I'm honest. It's probably 5 sizes too big on me and makes a great t-shirt dress. However, since it's too cold for a look like that at the moment, I decided to pair it with my grey high-waisted jeans from Brandy Melville and some boots from H&M.

It was so much fun to shoot an outfit today after taking almost a full week of a break. Since I've been seeing it quite a lot in the blogsphere: would you like me to do an outfit roundup for 2014 with my favourite ones for my next post? Please let me know what you think of that and if it's something you'd like to see.
